SAN TELMO TRIO

of Buenos Aires

Barbara Civita (piano)

Born in Milano, Italy, she began her piano studies in Buenos Aires with  Lulu von der Wettern and John Montes, and completed her musical education  with Teodoro Fuchs, Erwin Leuchter and Ljerko Spiller.

Later on, in her native city, she studied with Alberto Mozzati and graduated from the “Giusepper Verdi” Conservatory.  During her european stay she was also pupil of Bruno Seidlhofer in Salzburg (Austria), Guido Agosti (Siena) and María Canals (Spain).

She gave recitals in Italy, the International Music Academy in Salzburg and was soloist with the San Remo Music Festival Symphony Orchestra.

Back in Argentina, she studied with Celia Bronstein and,  through a scholarship from the argentine Mozarteum, worked under the guidance of Sergio Lorenzi (Chigiano Quintet). Actively dedicated to chamber music, she played with distinguished soloists and in different instrumental groups.

From 1980 to 1984 she  formed a Piano Duet with Liliana Sainz.

Since its creation in 1984 she is member of the San Telmo Trio, together with Haydée Seibert (violin) and María Eugenia Castro (cello). With this chamber group  she played in national and international music festivals, toured extensively through Europe, the United States, Latin America and the ex Soviet Union, and recorded for the Radios in Copenhagen, Madrid and Luxembourg.

With the same ensemble she participated in master classes given by Norbert Brainin (Amadeus Quartet) and Menahem Pressler (Beaux Arts Trio). In Argentina she recorded for IRCO, Spacio and Radio Clásica.

With violist Tomás Tichauer she toured Europe and Scandinavia several times and recorded in Paris (Cybelia) the complete works for viola and piano by Darius Milhaud.
